Graduate Student Handbook

Satisfactory Academic Progress

To be eligible for financial assistance, students must demonstrate that they are making "satisfactory academic progress" toward completion of their degree program. Satisfactory academic progress is defined in the following ways.

For the Awarding of Institutional Funds

To be eligible to receive Bentley institutional grant aid, students must be in good academic standing as determined by the Graduate School at the time that financial aid awards are made. A GPA of 2.7 in both the major and concentrations/areas is required. Two F grades, or a total of three 2.3 or F grades in any combination, is grounds for dismissal and reason for review by the Graduate Academic Performance Committee.

For the Awarding of Federal Funds

Satisfactory academic progress is determined by both qualitative and quantitative components. Qualitatively, students must maintain satisfactory academic progress as described above. Quantitatively, students must proceed through their program of study with not more than 150 percent of the total courses required to attain each grade level. Progress toward program completion is determined by comparing the number of credit hours of record (including course withdrawals and failures) to the number of credit hours successfully completed.
