Information for Faculty
Curriculum
The Graduate Curriculum Committee reviews graduate curriculum proposals before they are presented to the Graduate Council. Departments seeking to modify existing courses or recommend new curricula, concentrations or programs, must submit a curriculum proposal request to the Office of the Dean of Business, Morison, Room 305 in sufficient time to act upon the proposal before registration for the semester the course or changes are recommended. These proposals must be approved by the academic department chair(s) involved, prior to submission to the Dean.
Guidelines for Curriculum Proposals
Experimental Courses:
Faculty who wish to test a course's content before bringing it forward as a permanent course, should present an experimental course proposal to the Graduate Curriculum Committee prior to the course's initial delivery. Once reviewed by the Graduate Curriculum Committee the course may run twice as an experimental course with the designator XX799. After the course has been delivered twice, if the department wishes to continue to offer the course, a full proposal for a permanent course MUST be submitted to be reviewed by Graduate Council and the Faculty Senate.
Special Topics Courses:
Many departments have a Special Topics Course (XX755) designator available for courses that are intended for a limited period of delivery (e.g. Y2K Reporting). The content of a Special Topics course must be reviewed by the Graduate Curriculum Committee prior to initial delivery.
Course Content and/or Title Changes:
Whenever a title, content or prerequisite change is made to a course, the Graduate Curriculum Committee must review the changes prior to publication in registration materials or the Graduate School catalogue.
New Permanent Courses/Programs/Concentrations:
All new curriculum, programs, concentrations must be reviewed by the Graduate Curriculum Committee, Graduate Council, and Faculty Senate before being added to a semester's offerings. All requests for new curriculum must be submitted on Curriculum Proposal Request Form.
