Types of Field-Based Learning Projects
Participating organizations can work with first-year MBAs in the Business Process Management course, or second-year MBAs in the Management Consulting Teams course. After a project has been identified, the student team collaborates with the participating firm to define specific issues to be addressed and research that needs to be done.
Business Process Management
The Bentley graduate course Business Process Management focuses on the characteristics of business processes such as supply-chain management, the IT systems that enable them, and how an organization’s operations, marketing, accounting and finance fit together. Students learn the tools and how-to of:
- process mapping and measurement
- benchmarking
- problem identification and analysis
- process improvement
Management Consulting
The Management Consulting Teams course is the capstone of the Bentley MBA program. Students focus on project management techniques and consulting strategy. Using a state-of-the-art project management and collaborative software package, student teams work together with their clients to scope and implement their projects by:
- gathering existing data
- creating and administering survey and interview instruments that generate new perspectives on existing data
- subjecting their data to multiple levels of analysis
- synthesizing their findings into actionable recommendations
