How the Process Works

Organizations interested in sponsoring a project in business process management or management consulting should contact Heikki Topi, Associate Dean of Business, Graduate and Executive Programs . The form is also available online.

The form asks for some brief background information about the organization, as well as an overview of the proposed project. Each proposal is evaluated for:

  • content
  • expertise required
  • alignment with course learning objectives
  • feasibility
  • potential to provide a challenging learning experience for the students

Participant firms are selected during the summer and student teams (each with a faculty advisor) are assigned in the fall. The faculty adviser, the student team and project sponsors meet to further define the project and additional meetings take place as necessary.

Each student team typically devotes at least 20 hours per week to a project. Team members will sign a non-disclosure agreement as needed for projects that involve proprietary or otherwise confidential information. At the end of the academic year, the teams provide their analysis and recommendations in both oral and written presentations.
