Structure and Format

The BBB competition levels are based upon class codes at the beginning of the spring semester.

  • Freshman (Class code 1 and 2)
  • Sophomore (Class code 3 and 4)
  • Junior (Class code 5 and 6)
  • Senior (Class code 7 and 8)
  • Graduate (Graduate)

Students compete in teams of five students of the same class code against teams in the same level.

Competition Format

Students are presented with a case in the morning that will require critical thinking and the application of a team’s knowledge of ethics, business, accounting, and information technology. Students can use any resources available on campus in preparing solutions except consulting with non-team members.

Presentations

Each team will present in the afternoon before a panel of judges drawn from the professional community. Teams may use PowerPoint or other technology to enhance their presentation.

Judges will use the following criteria to evaluate presentations:

  • The extent to which relevant facts have been identified.
  • The extent to which conclusions are based on theory and are reasonable and logical.
  • Appropriateness of the solution based upon the facts given.
  • Participation of ALL team members in the presentation.
  • Quality of answers and responsiveness to questions asked by the judges.

Networking Session and Presentation of Awards

Following the last presentation is the Networking/Awards Reception. The Awards Reception will be held at 4:00 p.m. in the Executive Dining Room in LaCava.
